BIOGRAPHY FOR NICOLA MCLEAN – star of British TV series, I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out OF Here!
Fiesty, fearless and far funnier than she has any right to be, celebrity model Nicola McLean is best-known as the jungle babe from Britain's hugely popular TV series, I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!
"London-born Nicola is an interviewer's dream. During a mere 20 minutes of talking to us, she managed to squeeze in everything from the best porn shows in Amsterdam to what outfit would be best to conduct a public execution in. "Monosyllabic is not a word to describe this lady." said the Editor from men's magazine, Loaded.
"I predict we’ll hear great things from Nicola McLean, the unique WAG who happens to have something funny, unusual and refreshingly honest to say about absolutely everything."
said TV presenter/journalist Vanessa Feltz after interviewing Nicola for a National tabloid in 2008.
Both Vanessa Feltz and Loaded's Editor aren't wrong with their views. Nicola McLean not only looks fantastic but - unlike many of today's TV pin-ups - she's got an outstanding personality, too. Cheeky, bold, down-to-earth, dramatic an unafraid to air her views, it's no wonder she's featured regularly on the covers and editorial pages of the UK's tabloids, women's and lad's mags in the past 10 years. It appears that the British press just can't get enough of Ms McLean!
Before becoming a well-known model and TV star, Nicola was a corporal in the army cadets and had originally planned to build a long-term career in the army. However, after being stopped by a photographer and posing for a set of glamour photos, she opted to take the modelling path instead.
27-year-old Nicola first leapt into the media spotlight when she started modelling for the iconic 'Page 3' slots within The Sun and Daily Star newspapers almost 10 years ago. After her pictorial debut, she proved to be an immediate hit with the readers of both newspapers and featured on 'Page 3' a few times every week for several years. Nicola evetually went on to become one of the most successful Page 3 girls EVER, with almost 300 appearances on Page 3- a record that is yet to be beaten.
It's no surprise therefore that Nicola came in the Top 4 of the 'Best Page 3 Girl Of All Time' poll, as conducted by the millions of readers of The Sun newspaper. In the poll, busty Nicola beat the likes of Jordan/Katie Price, Sam Fox, Lucy Pinder and Michelle Marsh by many votes - proving just how popular she is with the British public.
Thanks to her Page 3 success, Nicola soon built a name for herself as a celebrity model and featured often on the tabloid showbiz gossip pages and as a celebrity guest on several TV shows including The Weakest Link (Page 3 special); Richard & Judy; The Big Breakfast; Test The Nation (Celebrity WAGs Special). She was also the main star in the ITV's television documentary, The Sexiest Girls In Britain.
Nicola retired from Page 3 and topless modelling in 2006 after having her son, Rocky. After taking some time off to care for her son, she returned to non-topless modelling work in January 2008. Soon after, she was asked to be one of the lead stars in the Channel Five prime time TV documentary, Help I've Got A.. High Maintenance Wife!. The TV show followed Nicola as she led her glamorous life as a footballer's girlfriend and glamour model. The show gained her plenty of column inches in the UK press once again.
Soon after that, the TV show, WAGS World, asked Nicola to star in an episode completely dedicated to her. Nicola's dry sense of humour and ballsy, outspoken personality shone through on the show. Realising that Nicola wasn't boring and sugar-sweet like most of today's celebrity pins-ups - the UK's biggest celebrity reality TV series,I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! asked Nicola to take part in their 2008 series. The show, which saw 12 celebrities tough it out in an Australian jungle, aired on the UK's mainstream TV channel ITV and was watched by over 11 million viewers per night. Out of the 12 celebrities who starred in the show, Nicola notched up a massive 95% of the total UK press coverage for the show.
During her time on 'I'm A Celebrity, Get Me out Of Here!', Nicola was compared by some to UK model/celebrity Katie Price (aka Jordan). However, Ms McLean believes the pair are nothing alike. "It's narrow-minded for people to compare us just because we have fake boobs. Personality-wise, I'm nothing like Katie Price. She's good-looking but, let's be honest, she only became famous thanks to her endless relationships with famous men. If she hadn't of dated so many high-profile celebrity guys such as Dane Bowers, Gareth Gates, Dwight Yorke and all the rest, then she wouldn't of received so much press attention and built a name for herself. Also, if Katie Price hadn't of shacked up with singer Peter Andre whilst in the jungle, I doubt she would have landed her reality show afterwards or been half as popular as she is now! Pete saved her career. Thankfully, I've never had to date any celebrity men to make a name for myself and I'm proud of that. I made column inches and front covers and landed the biggest TV show purely through my own hard work and by having a strong character." says Nicola.
Upon leaving the jungle TV show, Nicola was immediately signed up as a new celebrity face and 'Ultimo Angel' for Ultimo lingerie's D-G cup range, following in the footsteps of Mel B and Melinda Messenger.
Nicola is now taking the UK by storm and we've no doubt that in 2009, this gorgeous, witty and refreshingly honest babe will go on to become one of Britain's best-loved TV personalities and pin-ups.
Nicola will marry her fiance Peterborough FC footballer Tommy Williams in a beautiful wedding ceremony in June 2009. The event will be covered by OK! magazine.
Nicola will be taking part in a new one-off TV show for LIVING TV which will air in late August 2009. More details coming soon!
Nicola will be launching the Nicola McLean children's product/accessories collection in late 2009. It will be called 'Rocky Blue' (for boys) and 'Rocky Pink' (for girls) - in honour of her son Rocky.
